Tom Good and Nathan Elms both placed in the UK Pro Tour under 16’s and pro Junior event last weekend. The Salt Rock event held at Croyde Bay, Devon started in small clean surf, with the swell peaking around 3ft for the finals.
Nathan started strongly and knows how to play the game. “You have to get your waves in quick if you want to stand any chance of staying close to the UK lads,” He said. “I just didn’t get a second wave and that put me in a massive disadvantage. Unfortunately, I saw Leon Mansfield get an incredible left and get a 7.1. I was looking for an 8, waiting but it just didn’t come.” Nathan had won all his heats on his to the final but just couldn’t keep the ball rolling.
Tom started the final with a strong wave, and was looking to match his recent 1st place in the Welsh nationals, but could only place 3rd here. Tom also made the final of the British Schools Event and is looking to compete at every chance in UK and European events.
Next up for Tom is the Fat Face Night Surf, whilst Nathan has the King of The Groms event on his home beach of St Ouens, Jersey. Both lads are planning summer trips down to France for competition and training, both eager to push themselves and each other!
